The pressure relief valve, sometimes called safety valve, relief valve or the PRV is used to decrease the pressure in a system. It is set to open if the system pressure goes above a certain point to stop the system from being damaged . Each PRV has an internal "bar" limit set, when the pressure within the system exceeds the bar the pressure relief valve opens and the build up of water is discharged which in turn decreases the pressure within the system .
